Web-based CE Lectures for Nurses in Jiangsu Province


November 24, 2020.  On November 21, two clinical experts, Nenhuan Huang, DNP, RN, AHN-BC, HWNC-BC and Guiyun Zhou, DNP, ANP-BC, AOCNS, shared their clinical experiences with Chinese nurses on oncology nursing practices via Zoom meeting, coordinated by FZHCare.

 

Dr. Huang talked about roles and responsibilities of nurses across the care continuum for cancer patients and her experiences as an inpatient oncology nurse over the years.  She emphasized the importance of nurses and nursing processes and protocols at various stages of patient care.

 

Dr. Zhou shared her thoughts on critical nursing roles in palliative and hospice care of terminally ill patients and caring for the family.  She focused on team and holistic approach in caring for cancer patients and family during their most difficult times and critical roles of nurses.

 

Several topics were discussed after each presentation especially on the roles of nurse specialist and nurse practitioner in different job areas.  Nanjing Gulou Hospital hosted the event for clinical nurses throughout the Jiangsu province, as part of national-level CE training.

FZHCare Presented E-Posters at Virtual 2020 ONS Bridge Conference


September 10, 2020.  Oncology Nursing Society has moved its annual Congress to an online virtual format, the 2020 ONS Bridge Conference during the Covid-19 pandemic.  From September 8 through end of October, registered attendees can either join the conference online or access conference materials on-demand.  FZHCare presented two e-posters at the virtual conference, both are related to the CE training of nurses on immunotherapy in China in 2019.

 

As the titles of the e-poster indicated, “Design a Suitable Immunotherapy Continuing Education Course with Applicable Information from the US for Oncology Nurses in China” focused on the content design of the training, while “Continuing Education Course on Immunotherapy Nursing for Oncology Nurses in China: Sharing and Integrating Knowledge from the US” discussed more broadly on how the training course was initiated, prepared, and conducted.

Inaugural CE Training on Immunotherapy Nursing Care Successfully Conducted in Beijing


August 30, 2019.  The first Advances in Immunotherapy Nursing Care Training was successfully held at Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), August 25-27, 2019, Beijing.  The PUMC and FZHCare co-organized the event.  Co-developed by oncology nursing experts in the US and China, it was the first of such course in China and was approved as a 6-credit, National Level Category I (highest level) CME course there.

 

Coming from 10 provinces, such as Beijing, Chongqing, Anhui, Sichuan and Xinjiang, about 50 nursing professionals attended the 3-day training.  On day one, nationally-recognized nursing experts gave lectures on various topics in oncology nursing, from current best practices in immunotherapy treatment and care, clinical applications and trials, safety and patient education, to trends in nursing.

 

In the next two days, experts from the US presented recent immunotherapy advancements in medical treatment and nursing.  They systematically discussed immunotherapy basics, clinical practices, combination therapies, CAR-T therapy, adverse events evaluation and management, best nursing practices, patient and family education and so on. 

 

Many clinical case studies from both countries were presented, analyzed and discussed in small groups. For the Chinese oncology nurses with diverse background in the, it achieved its educational goals of sharing US nursing practices in immunotherapy, incorporating certain American approaches into Chinese procedures where appropriate, and enhancing knowledge and clinical skills, according to the follow-up survey.

Dr. Feng Attended 44th Oncology Nursing Society Congress


April 18, 2019.  Dr. Bingbing Feng attended the 44th Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Congress in Anaheim.  During the Congress, Dr. Feng met with nursing leaders from Chinese Nursing Association (CNA) and its Oncology Nursing Committee, and attended meeting between CNA and ONS.

 

Dr. Feng discussed a variety of topics of interest with nurses and nurse practitioners from both China and the United States.  Together with nursing leaders from China, he was invited to the City of Hope reception, hosted by Dr. Susan Brown, SVP and Chief Nursing Officer.

Dr. Zhou Gave Lectures in China on US Oncology Nursing


March 8, 2019.  During February 2019, Drs. Bingbing Feng and Guiyun Zhou visited cancer centers and hospitals in several Chinese cities, where Dr. Zhou was invited to give lectures on oncology nursing.

 

Dr. Zhou’s lecture was entitled “Oncology Nursing Practice in US—Safety in Nursing”, in which she used real life examples in the United States to illustrate the “Safety First” concept, related clinical considerations and practice in oncology nursing throughout patient treatment and recovery process. 

 

Her hour-long presentation was very well-received and generated enthusiastic discussions.  In some hospitals, audience from various clinical settings asked questions for almost another hour.  Overall, more than 1,000 nurses and nursing leaders attended her lecture in four cities.  Dr. Zhou also held a round-table discussion on nursing career with graduate students in School of Nursing, Anhui Medical University.

FZHCare Joins CHTI as a Founding Member


January 11, 2019.  As the only Founding Member from the United States, FZHCare Corporation joined China Health-Tourism-Insurance Industry Innovation Alliance (CHTI) in late 2018.  The Alliance integrated resources from healthcare, tourism and insurance sectors to promote innovation and growth under the “China Health” strategy.  The Founding Members included Chinese health associations, medical and nursing schools.

Dr. Zhou Published Article in Chinese Oncology Nursing Journal


August 22, 2018.  Dr. Guiyun Zhou was invited to write an article on chemotherapy by editors of the Chinese Oncology Nursing Journal.  The paper entitled “Recommendations for Drug Administration Sequences in Common Chemotherapy Regimens” was recently published in the journal, 2018 Vol 2(1), 1-12. 

Article abstract: The purpose of this article is to provide oncology clinicians with an practical reference on recommendations for drug administration sequences in common chemotherapy regimens, which includes: the mechanism and general principles of sequential administration of chemotherapy agents when used in  combination, special considerations for certain chemotherapy drugs, drug sequences with clinical evidences, and the recommendations for drug administration sequences in common chemotherapy regimens for several common cancers. The recommendations are based on author’s many years of clinical experience in writing chemotherapy order templates and the latest literature.

August 20, 2018.  Dr. Bingbing Feng attended the 2018 Chinese Conference on Oncology (CCO) in Shenyang.  During the conference, Dr. Feng facilitated meetings between Dr. Brenda Nevidjon, CEO of Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and nursing leaders in Chinese Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO).  He advised Dr. Nevidjon and others on subjects of mutual interest.
